Interests:
Clinical decision support, patient safety, clinical informatics, communication after medical harm, aging physicians, quality improvement methods and education, and assessment of clinical applications of AI.
Background:
Dr. White is an Internal Medicine trained physician who is also board certified in Clinical Informatics. He works clinically as a hospitalist at UWMC and is UW’s assistant Chief Health Information Officer with responsibility for clinical decision support, documentation, and aspects of deploying predictive and generative AI in the EHR. He also serves as the director of the UW Center for Scholarship in Patient Care Quality and Safety. He has experience in Epic building, alert design, population health management tools, and EHR nudges to improve care. His work outside informatics includes the development of simulation platforms for teaching communication skills in GME.
